Sewer Project Update
The sewer project has moved to Center Island with the remainder of the island's of Duck Key just about completed. Center Island is the only area of disruption from this ongoing project, for most Duck Key residence the project is completed with the exception of final paving.
The uncompleted sections of Indies Drive North and South are in the progress of being connected as of Memorial Day Weekend. The final sections of Center Island will use an different type of system for the sewer project. The County and the contractors are having issue with many of the property owners (mostly vacant lots) not filling out the needed forms to decide were the hook ups will be placed and to grant permission to enter their properties. If you are one of these property owners, please contact FKAA as soon as possible to address this issue. It will cost you additional dollars if they have to come back in after your section has been completed.
Grey water (recycled water) has been in very low supply as most of the island has not looked up to the system as of yet. Less processing of sewer water means less recycled water.
The sewer system has been ongoing for several years now; dirty cars and rough roads have made travel around the island difficult. It won't be long now till we get our beautiful Duck Key back, having freshly paved roads throughout the island will be nice.
