Tom's Harbor Bridge Bridge Repairs to be Completed by End of July
The replacement of the road decking and bridge substructure of the Tom's Harbor Bridge will be completed by the end of the month. Today we spoke to the Sr Project Manager Clark Briggs of Monroe County who is in charge of the bridge project. He stated that all the concrete has been poured and only only the finishing touches need to be completed.
We also asked Mr. Briggs about the Southbound merge lane on US1. Several D.K.P.O.A. members had requested to have it remain after the construction project was completed. The County also requested that the merge lane stay after repairs but FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) denied that request. FDOT is asking that the lights and merge lane be removed as soon as possible so the paving project on that section of US1 can be completed.
The bridge repair process has been an inconvenience for residents and visitors alike, the light at the end of the tunnel will shortly be car using both lanes of the Tom's Harbor Bridge.
